Men's Tennis Claims Fifth at C-USA Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Sixth-seeded UAB defeated seventh-seeded DePaul 4-0 Sunday in the fifth place match of the 2002 Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship.
The format of the match was altered due to time constraints. The singles matches were played first, with doubles following if needed. The doubles point was not played.
UAB (16-9) notched all of its singles points in straight sets. At No. 2, UAB's Tobi Klein knocked off Andy Michael 7-6, 6-2, while Alex Jung topped Robert Kurek 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3. Sanzaruz Zaman captured a 6-2, 7-5 win over DePaul's Dan Bennett at the No. 4 slot and Ivan Andreev rounded out the Blazer wins with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Neil Johnston at No. 6.
The Blazers claim fifth place in league standings, the Blue Demons finish sixth.
