Men's Tennis Knocked Off 4-3 by South Alabama

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's tennis team put up a fight and kept it close all match, but fell 4-3 to 39th-ranked South Alabama Sunday at the Brook Highland Racquet Club.
The Blazers got the momentum up early, taking two of three matches in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, UAB's 41st ranked tandem of Alex Jung and Tobi Klein defeated 32nd ranked Vincent Baudat and Kosta Zinchanka, 8-4. In the No. 2 spot, the Blazer duo of George Dubrava and Andre van der Merwe knocked off USA's Heinrich Heyl and Clinton Jacobs, 8-6.
In singles, the Blazers took wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots. Van der Merwe notched a win at the top spot defeating Baudet, 6-4, 6-2, while Jung won 6-3, 7-6 at the No. 3 position over Heyl.
The Blazers are right back at it tomorrow as they host Louisiana-Lafayette at Lakeshore Foundation Tennis Facility in a 2 p.m. match.
