Softball Announces 2003 Fall Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB softball office announced its 2003 fall schedule on Wednesday as the Blazer coaching staff released the game times and matchups for this weekend's UAB Fall Tournament being held at George Ward Park Field #6.
UAB is scheduled to compete in a pair of local tournaments this fall. The Blazers host a five-team field on Saturday, Oct. 4, prior to playing in the 2003 Samford Fall Tournament held Oct. 18-19. The Samford Tournament will be played at the Pelham Sports Complex and features nine teams.
On Saturday, UAB hosts its annual fall tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
The Blazers will open the competition against Jefferson State and then play at noon versus North Alabama before closing out the event against South Alabama at 7:30 p.m. All games will be played at George Ward Park Field #6 and will have an hour and 20 minute time limit. There will be 10 minutes between games.
The five-team field for the 2003 UAB Fall Tournament consists of Jefferson State, Itawamba, North Alabama, South Alabama and UAB.
The teams scheduled to participate in the Samford Tournament are as follows: Alabama Southern, Birmingham-Southern, Chattanooga State, Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Samford, Shelton State, Southern Union and UAB. The Blazers will play against Shelton State, Samford and North Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 18, before squaring off against Jacksonville State and Southern Union on Sunday.
The UAB softball team will begin its 2003 fall season on Saturday, Oct. 4, as the Blazers kick off the UAB Fall Tournament at 9 a.m. against Jefferson State at George Ward Park Field #6.
