Women's Tennis Continues Winning Ways

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ----- The UAB women's tennis team (3-2, 1-0) continued its winning streak by defeating Murray State, 6-0, here on Friday afternoon. It was the third straight victory for the Blazers.
Play began with six singles matches. After UAB won all six, the coaches agreed to defer on playing the doubles matches.
At No. 1 singles, Blazer Natascha Immele defeated Murray State's Melissa Spencer in the most dramatic match of the day. Immele won the first set, 7-5, but Spencer rebounded to win the second set, 6-3. The third set was fought to the end, with Immele winning, 7-6, to take the match.
UAB's Femke de Boer was victorious over Racer Jaclyn Leeper, 6-4, 7-5, at the No. 2 spot, while UAB's Ornischa Maier-Knapp beat MSU's Jennifer Ward, 6-4, 6-1, in the No. 3 match. In No. 4 singles, Murray State's Annette Steen fell to Blazer Yvonne Ernst, 6-4, 6-2. UAB's Nadia Dellarciprete defeated Racer Cheryl Graham, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 5 spot and Blazer Julia Hoch cruised past MSU's Tami McQueen, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 6 match.
Next, UAB battles C-USA foe, Memphis on Saturday, February 22, at 6 p.m.
