BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB cross country team has released its 2004 schedule, head coach Ray Stanfield announced Friday. The Blazers will compete in five meets to prepare for the postseason, including three meets in which they participated in last year.
"I am really looking forward to the 2004 cross country season," said Stanfield. "We hope to be able to build on the success of last year's squad. The team will participate in some excellent meets in order to get ready for the conference championships and the postseason."
UAB begins the season at the Belmont Opener on Sept. 3, before traveling to Memphis for the Memphis Nighttime Classic on Sept. 10. On Sept. 18, UAB will head to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Hilltopper Invitational.

"We have a very challenging and enjoyable schedule planned," Stanfield said. "With trips to Notre Dame and Arkansas we will face some of the best competition in the nation and the night meet in Memphis will be a breakthrough in cross country racing."
