UAB Cross Country Opens Season At Belmont

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB cross country team starts the 2004 season at the Belmont Opener in Belmont, Tenn., on September 3. The Blazers are coming off of their best finish at the Conference USA Championships in school history, as they tied for fourth overall.
The Blazers look to returners Elizabeth Ambrus, Adel Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson, Ryanne Fortney, Maureen McDonald, Jennifer Thompson and Mary Kim Webb to improve on their performances last season. Ambrus, Fortney and Thompson all ran for UAB in the conference championships.
In 2003, UAB opened the year at Belmont, placing second out of 10 teams. UAB had five runners finish in the top-35.
