UAB Cross Country Team Finishes 32nd At Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The UAB cross country team placed 32nd out of 36 teams here Saturday at the 2006 Pre-Nationals hosted by Indiana State University.
The meet, held over a 6,000-meter course, was held on the site of the upcoming NCAA Championships and included many of the top collegiate teams from around the country.
Top-ranked Stanford won the race, finishing with 45 points, followed by Minnesota with 200, Arizona State at 224, BYU with 242 and Providence with 247. UAB finished with 772 points.
Junior Elizabeth Hilligoss was the Blazers' top individual finisher in 137th place (22:00), followed by junior Whitney Mays (22:02) in 139th and Katie Stepp (22:07) in 147th. Freshman Kristina Olsen was 170th at 22:17 and Jennifer Thompson was 179th with a time of 22:26.
