BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's tennis team will resume its dual match schedule Friday when the Blazers play host to Conference USA foe Memphis in a match scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Brook Highland Racquet Club.
The Blazers (6-5, 2-1 C-USA) have not played a dual match since they defeated Tennessee-Martin, 7-0, on March 10. UAB has won three of its last four matches. The Tigers (5-8, 1-1) enter Friday's match in Birmingham with a two-match win streak after posting victories last weekend over Indiana State and Tennessee Tech.
Blazer freshmen Tim Bauer and Thomas Petrich have been the team's hottest players of late as they both are riding four-match win streaks in singles. Bauer, who has seen most of his dual action at the No. 3 singles position, has a 6-2 record at that spot. Petrich has held down the No. 6 singles position throughout the season and has an 8-4 mark there. He has claimed wins in seven of his past nine matches.
Bauer has also been a significant doubles player for the Blazers. He and Hanns Spangenberg are 8-2 in doubles during the dual match season and have a perfect 6-0 record at the No. 2 position.
