Hey Blazer Fans!
Sorry it has been a while since the last update, but things are going good here for the Blazers. Last week we won the series over Memphis! On Tuesday, we split with them winning the first game in only five innings, 9-0. Kayla Harris, our senior pitcher, threw a shutout only allowing one hit and freshman Mandy Lowman had two homeruns during the first game. The second game didn't go as planned for us. We just came out a little too flat and things didn't go our way. However, all that changed on Wednesday. We won the game 14-0! Our team hit the ball great. I know if we always play to our potential, teams are going to have a tough time beating us. This series was a great way to get us pumped up for the Conference USA tournament.
On Saturday we played Samford University. It was a great game to be at. Both teams played very hard and due to our determination we pulled out the win. Kayla started the game pitching and then I came in during the fifth inning to end the game. We were down 2-1 in the top of the seventh when Kayla Harris hit a shot to the outfield scoring two runs giving us the lead. During the bottom of the seventh inning Samford scored one more run but it was not enough to win. We got the victory, 4-3. I am so proud of our team, throughout this season I have seen so much determination to win and the team has really pulled together. We are all very excited to be leaving for El Paso, I know we are going to be a tough team to beat.
Oh and Sunday was my birthday!! I didn't do anything big but I did get to spend it with my best friend Macie, who I haven't seen in a while. It was the best. And also please remember my friend that is in Afghanistan, he is doing well, but remember to keep him and his fellow troops in your prayers.
I hope you all have a great day, and watch the games on game tracker. Our first game is against Memphis on Thursday morning at 8 a.m. CT
