UAB Women's Tennis Falls To ULM, 5-2

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The UAB women's tennis team closed its road weekend Saturday with a 5-2 loss to the University of Louisiana at Monroe in a neutral site match at Memphis.
The Blazers lost the doubles point and then saw the Warhawks take four of the six singles matches. Each of the singles contests featured a lopsided, straight-sets result with no set closer than 6-3 all day.
Evelien Strijker picked up one point for UAB with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lena Satge at No. 2 singles, and Jenny Cape notched the other win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sidney Bruscato at the No. 5 position. Cape improved her spring singles record to 12-4, the best on the team.
ULM managed straight-set wins from Claire Clark (No. 1), Monica Winkel (No. 3), Vivian Polak (No. 4) and Ana Burjaili (No. 6) on its way to the team victory.
In doubles action, Cape and Paula Alvarez teamed for a win at the No. 2 position, but ULM won each of the other two spots.
With the loss, UAB fell to 9-9 in the dual-match season, while ULM improved to 11-3. The Blazers return to the court Saturday, April 10 with a road match at Kennesaw State.
