Blazer Softball Hosts UAB Fall Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB softball team will open its fall schedule by hosting the UAB Fall Tournament Friday at UAB Softball Field.
The Blazers will have a full day with three games scheduled against local teams. UAB will play Jefferson State Community College at 12:45 p.m., Alabama Southern Community College at 4:15 p.m. and Wallace State Community College at 7:45 p.m.
Head coach Marla Townsend's 2010-11 squad returns 16 players from last year's team that received UAB's first-ever NCAA Championship bid. Returning players include four 2010 all-conference honorees in junior C Mandy Lowman, junior SS Kayla Orr, senior P Alisha Smith and sophomore P Lauren Webster.
Other tournament games Friday include Alabama Southern vs. Jefferson State at 11 a.m., Wallace State vs. Alabama Southern at 2:30 p.m. and Wallace State vs. Jefferson State at 6 p.m.
