Bracket Announced For 2012 C-USA Softball Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The bracket has been set for the Conference USA Softball Championship that will be hosted later this week by UAB.
The Blazers (36-19, 17-7 C-USA) are the No. 2 seed in the tournament -- their highest-ever seed in the championship -- that begins Thursday, May 10. UAB will play its first round game Thursday at 7:00 p.m. as the Blazers go against No. 7 seed Memphis (20-36, 8-16).
There will be four games on tap for Thursday, followed by the two semifinal contests Friday at the UAB Softball Field.
The championship game will be played on Saturday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
Tulsa (38-12, 19-5) secured the top seed by taking two-of-three games from UAB over the weekend. The Golden Hurricane will take on No. 8 seed Southern Miss (13-33, 4-19) Thursday in the opening game of the championship at 11:00 a.m.
The other two first-round matchups have fourth-seeded UCF (39-16, 15-9) taking on No. 5 seed Houston (33-21, 15-9) at 1:30 p.m. while No. 3 seed Marshall (34-20, 15-9) meets No. 6 seed and defending champion East Carolina (25-27, 11-12) at 4:30 p.m.
