CHICAGO, Ill.--UAB cross country runner Elinor Kirk led the Blazers with a third place finish on Saturday at the 40th Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational collegiate women's 5K race.

In the 514-person field, Kirk crossed the finish line with a time of 17:32, while teammate Sarah Hudak finished four second behind for fifth place (17:36). The finish marks the second time Kirk has finished in the top-5.

Toronto's Tamara Jewett won the race with a time of 17:17, and with three runners in the top-15, McMaster (105 points) took the team crown. UAB finished the team race in 21st place of 51 teams.

Sophomore Kristie Leybourne finished third for UAB with a time of 19:40 for the 169th position. Senior Rachel Harley with a time of 20:37, while sophomore Jenna Wesley crossed the finish line with a time of 21:26. Senior Pascale Pinard finished with a time of 21:52, and sophomore Kara Woods finished with a time of 22:39.

UAB cross country will be back in action next in Peoria, Ill. for the Bradley Classic on Friday, Oct. 12.
