Men's Tennis Falls To No. 36 Memphis, 4-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ----- The UAB men's tennis team, playing its first match in nearly two weeks, dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 36 Memphis Friday at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
The Blazers (14-10, 1-2 Conference USA) will play their final regular season match on Saturday when they take on South Alabama in Memphis at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The Tigers (10-7, 1-0 C-USA) won the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and 3 positions and then took wins at No. 1, 2 and 6.
Joe Salisbury and David O'Hare, ranked No. 59 nationally, downed the UAB duo of David Zimmerman and Tom Puetz, 8-3, at No. 1 singles while Lukas Vrnak and Johnny Grimal defeated the Blazers' Luiz Felipe Pinto and Nick Iannuzzi, 8-5.
The Blazers picked up a win at No. 2 doubles as Chris Helliar and Rafael Rondino defeated Connor Glennon and Cedric de Zutter, 8-5.
In singles play, the Tigers made it a 2-0 advantage with O'Hare's 6-1, 6-0 win over Iannuzzi at No. 6 singles. Glennon then handed UAB's Zimmerman his first setback in 15 matches as he downed the Blazer senior, 6-1, 6-2. Salisbury provided the clinching fourth point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Rondino.
The remaining matches were halted once the match was clinched.
