UAB Cross Country Set For Crimson Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----The UAB cross country team travels to Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Classic on Friday at the Harry Pritchett Running Park. The university women’s division race starts at 5 p.m. CT.
“This is the last tune up before we get into championship season,” said head coach Tony Houchin. “Practice has been going well and I expect that we will perform well.”
The Blazers will be competing against 37 other teams in the university division, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, LSU and Tennessee. Southern Miss joins UAB as the only other participant from Conference USA.
This weekend will mark the Blazers’ fourth race of the year and their third 5K event. Last time out, UAB finished 19th out of 33 teams at the Greater Louisville Classic. Freshman Rebecca Evans paced the Blazers with a 36th-place finish, as sophomore Sarah Livett crossed the line in 48th and junior Lucy Crookes claimed 52nd place.
