BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB bowling team will conclude its fall schedule with the Kat Klash Tournament hosted by No. 3 Sam Houston State in Houston, Texas. The three-day event will run from Friday through Sunday.
UAB (17-9) is off to its best start in the program’s four-year history and is coming off a second place finish at the Hornet Classic last weekend. Senior Jennafer Mellott finished first individually and sophomore Madeleine McDuff was fourth as both earned all-tournament honors.
The tournament will feature some of the top teams in the country. Among the 18-team field, 10 teams are ranked nationally including the top three teams in the nation.
Along with host and defending national champion No. 3 Sam Houston State, the field will include No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 6 Central Missouri, No. 9 Stephen F. Austin, No. 13 North Carolina A&T, No. 16 McKendree, No. 18 Alabama State, No. 19 Delaware State and No. 20 Monmouth.
The Blazers have had success against several teams competing this weekend, as they recently finished ahead of No. 18 Alabama State at the Hornet Classic and had wins over Sam Houston State, North Carolina A&T and Monmouth last season.
This year’s tournament schedule will feature six baker total pins matches on Friday, six five-person traditional contests on Saturday and the baker best-of-seven bracket on Sunday.
