UAB Suffers, 66-58, Loss To North Texas

"We just had too many breakdowns defensively," said head coach Randy Norton. "We didn't stick to the game plan and offensively we didn't shoot it very well. Shooting 37 percent is not going to win us very many games."
Senior Karisma Chapman led UAB (11-9, 3-4 C-USA) with her seventh consecutive double-double. She finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Khoria Newman scored a career-high nine points and fellow sophomore Chelsee Black hit three 3-pointers to finish with nine.
Sophomore Brittany Winborne converted a layup then Chapman came away with a steal on the other end and drew the foul to send the Blazers into the half down, 31-29.

Newman and Burroughs each connected on threes as UAB was able to pull within one again, 53-52, with 7:05 left in the game. Then a layup from Winborne, who finished with eight points off the bench, tied the game up at 54-54 at the 5:04 mark.

"As their coach, I believe in these kids," stated Norton. "We are just going to continue to work hard and get better. It is all about the process. We are going to stick to it and finish the season strong."
