The Blazers finished 2-4 on the first day of competition, but capped off the day with a win over No. 7 Sam Houston State. The team had a tough start as it was slated against three teams ranked in the top 20 in its first three games.
UAB closed out the day strong with wins over No. 7 Sam Houston State and
In the first game of the day, UAB fell to No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, 864-742. Then, the Blazers were matched up with No. 20 Alabama State who took the win, 789-670. Up next was No. 8 Vanderbilt. The Commodores edged UAB, 800-701 in the game. Then the Blazers fell to Tulane in a close game, 709-693.
UAB completed the day with a total pinfall of 4,266. The Blazers will be back in action on Saturday for the second day of the tournament.
