BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In the final meet before Conference USA Championships, the UAB cross country team makes the short trip southwest to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take part in the Crimson Classic Friday at 5 p.m. from the Harry Pritchett Running Park.
The 5K race features 32 teams from across the region, which includes in-state foes Alabama, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Auburn, Montevallo, Samford, South Alabama and Troy. Conference USA members Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss will also compete in the race.
"The Crimson Classic is a tremendous opportunity for the girls to show off the hard work and dedication that they have put in all year," head coach Matt Esche said. "I believe that we have accomplished our best workouts of the year these past two weeks and we believe things will start to come together this weekend."
UAB turned in two top-12 finishes in its last meet, as Lucy Crookes took 10th place with a time of 18:06.73 and Rebecca Evans posted a time of 18:08.83 en route to a 12th place showing at the Greater Louisville Classic.
