UAB Bowling Finishes 10th At USBC Sectionals

SMYRNA, Tenn. - The No. 16 UAB bowling team concluded the 2014-15 season with a 10th-place finish at the USBC Sectionals held in Smyrna, Tenn. The top four teams from each qualifier advanced to the Intercollegiate Team Championships.
UAB (58-49) finished with a total pinfall of 11,677 across 64 Baker games in the qualifier. The Blazers were one of 16 teams, where each team bowled 32 games over the two days.
The first round of matches began on Saturday morning. UAB had a great start to the sectional with a 3034 pinfall in the first block. The Blazers were in fifth place through the first round and bowled the third-highest game of the round with a 247.
UAB then fell to ninth after the second block of games with a total pinfall of 2882. The Blazers finished the first day with nine games over 200, including five in the first round.
On the final day, UAB posted a total pinfall of 2819 in the first 16 games to remain in ninth place. The Blazers then finished the weekend with a 2942 in the fourth block to fall to 10th overall.
The weekend capped off a historic season for UAB, who competed in postseason play for the first time in school history. They Blazers also finished the season with a winning record and the most wins in a single season.
