Men's Tennis Falls To Troy, 6-1

TROY, Ala. ----- Playing its third ranked opponent in the last four matches, the UAB men's tennis team came up short Sunday, falling to No. 73-ranked Troy, 6-1, at the Lunsford Tennis Center.
The Blazers (6-11), who now will look ahead to this week's Conference USA Championship at Norfolk, Va., claimed their only win in the match against the Trojans (23-6) at the No. 4 position as Christian Coetzee defeated Daniel Bustamante, 6-3, 6-3.
UAB's Mitchell Martell lost a tight three-setter at the No. 1 spot, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9) to Gabriel Dias. The Blazers also dropped a three-set decision at No. 5 singles as Troy's Pablo Moreno rallied to beat Stepan Vancurik, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-6).
Troy won the doubles point by capturing matches at the No. 1 and 2 positions, 8-5, 8-3, respectively.
