UAB Cross Country Heads to Crimson Classic Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After a week break from competition, the UAB cross country team returns to action on Friday, Oct. 14 at Alabama's Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Classic starts Friday morning with men's 8k race at 9 a.m. (CT). The women's 6k follows at 9:45 a.m. (CT). The Harry Pritchett Running Park, which held the 2015 NCAA South Region Championships, is the host site for Friday's race.
Thirty-five collegiate men's and women's programs from across the South are scheduled to compete. Among the teams competing are Houston, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
The Blazers, ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA South Region poll, are back on the course after running in the highly touted Gold Race at the Greater Louisville Classic. UAB placed 18th overall and junior Rebecca Evans led the team with a time of 17:51.70, just six seconds off her lifetime personal best. Sarah Livett finished second for the Green and Gold at 18:13, her fastest time of 2016, while Hannah Coffin crossed the line at 18:28.
Friday's Crimson Classic also serves as the Blazers final preparation for the Oct. 29 Conference USA Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
