UAB Falls at No.29 Mississippi State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's tennis team (3-3) dropped its second straight match on Saturday as it fell to No. 29 Mississippi State (6-2), 4-0, at A.J. Pitts Tennis Center as the Bulldogs claimed their six-straight victory.
The Bulldogs opened up a 1-0 lead in the match in thanks to wins on courts one and two in doubles play. Christian Coetzee and Luiz Felipe Pinto dropped a 6-0 decision to Borges/Braun. On court two Martell/Parton dropped a tightly contest 7-5 match to Cuetra/Foshey.
In singles play, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 2-0 following a win on court two over Coetzee, 6-1, 6-3. Mississippi State completed the sweep as it won on courts five and six.
On courts three and four, the Blazers were leading, thanks to play by Komati and Oliver Poysti. Komati was ahead 6-3, 1-1, while Poysti led MSU’s Hunter, 6-2, 3-4.
The Blazers hit the road for Lipscomb next week as they face the Bisons Saturday, February 20.
