Long and McDuff Recognized for Academic Achievements

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Ali Long and Junior Madeleine McDuff of the UAB Bowling team were both named to the Academic All National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) team as announced, by the organization.
The NTCA recognized 163 student athletes from 32 schools this year. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have maintained a 3.4 cumulative GPA for the 2015-16 school year.
Head Coach Michelle Crews said, "In a year without competing, these girls had such amazing commitment to each other and this program. They understand success begins in the classroom and their hard work didn't go unnoticed. Having two players, Ali and Madeleine, make the All NTCA Academic list sets a strong example for our seven incoming freshmen of what is expected of them in the classroom.”
Long average a 179.05 scoring average in 86 games over her career for the Blazers. Long recently graduated in April with a degree in community health and human services. She will continue her education this fall at Troy University where she will be enrolled in the School of Nursing.
McDuff joined the bowling team in the 2014-15 season where she competed in 40 games for the Blazers and posted a 190.73 scoring average. In the classroom, Madeleine is a junior communication studies- communication management major.
