BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB cross country heads to Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday as the Blazers are set to compete in the Commodore Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt. The women’s 5K is slated to begin at 10 a.m. at Percy Warner Park.
The Commodore Classic features 27 teams, including Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, No. 19 Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio State, Tennessee, No. 26 Vanderbilt and Conference USA foes Marshall and Middle Tennessee.
“The ladies have been working very hard the past couple weeks and are excited to show off what they can do this weekend,” head coach Matt Esche said. “The Commodore Classic will definitely challenge us and show us where we stand as we enter the heart of the season. I truly believe that the ladies are ready to take another step and make another quiet statement."
The Blazers made their way into the NCAA South Region rankings, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday. UAB ranks 12th in the NCAA South Region after a solid weekend of times at the Memphis Twilight.
Last time out, three runners set personal bests, including Hannah Coffin who led UAB with a 17th-place finish in the field of 229.
