Emily Drouin Leads Cross Country To Top 10 Finish

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – UAB cross country finished in 10th place at the Crimson Classic on Friday morning.
The Blazers finished ahead of South Carolina, LSU and Florida State and beat Memphis for the second time this season. UAB also finished ahead of Conference USA foes Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee.
It is the third time UAB has finished ahead of Middle Tennessee this season.
Blazer Highlights:
- Emily Drouin continued her strong senior season posting a PR while finishing 17th overall. Drouin ran the course in 21:08 and was the Green and Gold's top finisher.
- Rebecca Evans finished 37th with a time of 21:37.3
- Sarah Livett rounded out the Blazers top three placing 57th with a time of 21:57.1

Course Side with Head Coach Matt Esche:
"A top 10 finish in a 32 team field is a very impressive effort," head coach Matt Esche said. "We beat some big name programs along with two top notch Conference USA programs in Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee. They will be tough to beat in two weeks though. This race will spring board us forward as we enter the Championship portion of the season.
"Emily ran tremendous today with a huge PR and a 17th place finish. She definitely set the tone and the girls followed suit."
Up Next:
The Blazers will next head to the Conference USA Championship on Saturday, Oct. 28. The championship will be held in Hattiesburg, Miss.
