DENTON, Texas – The UAB women's soccer team saw its nine-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Friday following a 1-0 setback to North Texas at Mean Green Soccer Stadium.
It's the first loss for the Blazers since dropping a 2-1 decision in double overtime at Memphis on Aug. 27.
North Texas scored the only goal of the game early in the second half when Brooke Lampe connected for her third goal of the season. Lampe capitalized on a UAB turnover and used a pass from Aaliyah Nolan to connect for the goal.
"I am so proud of how our girls fought and competed for 90 minutes tonight," UAB head coach Erica Demers said. "We didn't get the result that we wanted, but I thought we were able to do our best to play in an extremely tough environment. Their style of play is difficult to defend and I thought our players stepped up to a great challenge."
Rachel Green finished with a game-high four shots for UAB and keeper Kelsey Daugherty tallied six saves.
UAB returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Blazers travel to San Antonio, Texas, to face UTSA in the final road game of the regular season.
