Bowling Tabbed as No. 19 in Preseason Polls

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The UAB Bowling team has been tabbed the No. 19 team in the country in the preseason National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
"I am very pleased to see how we have moved up to 19th in the preseason poll," head coach Michelle Crews said. "This is a testament to the girls hard work last year and to our new freshmen. I am excited to begin competing in a few weeks and show that UAB is not going anywhere anytime soon."
UAB is coming off a 55-43 season in 2016-17 when it found itself ranked No. 20 in the final NTCA polls. The Blazers return six bowlers from a season ago.
Defending national champion McKendree University sits atop the rankings collecting 35 of the 36 first place votes. Nebraska, Arkansas State, Vanderbilt and Sam Houston State round out the top-five.
The Blazers are set to begin their season Oct. 20-22 with a trip to the Bayou to compete in the AllState Sugarbowl Collegiate Bowling Championships hosted by Tulane in New Orleans, La.
