HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UAB men’s tennis team improved to 2-1 in league action with a win over Southern Miss at the Conference USA Showcase, hosted by the Golden Eagles.

Doubles
The Blazers earned a 6-2 win on court one with UAB’s top tandem of Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez earning a point over the Golden Eagles’ Merker/Reyes. Seniors Eric Komati and Christian Coetzee flatered on court two in a tightly contested 6-5 match. But it was Kenton Parton and Nikolai Manchev who earned the final 7-5 win on court three to seal the Blazers lead, 1-0.
Singles
UAB secured three singles victories on its was to a 4-2 win over USM. On court one, Dollman claimed a three set victory, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 for his team-best seventh win of the season. Komati bounced back with a come from behind victory after a tough loss yesterday to defeat USM on court two in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
On court three, Gonzlez picked up his third straight win with a two set 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Parton and Coetzee dropped two matches on courts four and five, respectively. However, Nikolai Manchev was in a grueling three-set match and led 4-6, 6-4, 4-3.
