DeLAND, Fla. – The UAB women’s tennis team suffered a 4-2 setback at Stetson Wednesday afternoon from the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
Stetson registered the first point and built an early 1-0 advantage after taking two of the three doubles matches. "We started a little slow in doubles and we were only able to recover on court one," UAB head coach Mark Tjia said. "I am very proud of Natalie and Taylor for getting to match point on court three."
Isabella Fernandez and Danielle Peele held off Natalie Voss and Taylor Factor at No. 3 en route to a 7-6 win to clinch the point for the Hatters.
Fernandez secured the second point and put Stetson ahead 2-0 following her 6-1, 6-1 singles win over Factor at No. 5. Sisirak cut the lead in half for UAB when she bested Ferding 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.
Renault put Stetson ahead 3-1 after posting a 6-4, 6-3 win over Lynch at No. 3, but Kianoush defeated Korac 7-5, 5-3 at No. 1 to tally the second point for UAB.
"Pardis continues to add to her final season resume, and Hana turned in a dominating performance," Tjia added.
Alexe Viaud clinched the win for Stetson with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 win over Voss at No. 6.
"We need to get some things figured out before we face an excellent team Saturday at USF," Tjia said.
