BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 22 UAB Bowing team closes its regular season this weekend with a trip to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in Vanderbilt’s 300 Columbia Music City Classic. Play is set to run March 17-19 at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
“Aside from post season, this is our largest and most competitive tournament of the year,” head coach Michelle Crews said. “We are excited to end our first year back with this tournament and put ourselves in a good position to move up in the rankings.”
The Blazers return to the lanes after a ninth place finish at the USBC Sectionals in Dallas eliminating them from a chance to compete at USBC Nationals in April.
The Columbia 300 Music City Classic features 19 of the top-20 teams in the latest NTCA poll including No. 1 McKendree, No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 4 Sam Houston State, and No. 5 Vanderbilt. The field is the largest regular season field of the year.
Play begins Friday morning at 9:40 with five 5-Game Baker matches. Saturday features five Traditional-Games slated to begin rolling at 9:30 a.m. The tournament concludes Sunday with three best-of-four Baker matches set to start at 8:30 a.m.
Fans can watch the weekend’s action live on InsideBowling.com with Mike Flanigan on the call. Two lanes will be spotlighted each round with teams rotating through the featured spots.
