Blazers Fall to Owls on Senior Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s tennis team fell to Florida Atlantic 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Lakeshore Tennis Center. Kenton Parton secured the Blazers lone point with a win on court six.

Doubles
FAU claimed a 6-4 win on court one to take the lead in the doubles point over Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez. However, Eric Komati and Anru Fourie claimed a 6-2 win on court two to force the decision to come on court three.
On court three, Kenton Parton and Nikolai Manchev battled back after being down 5-2 in the set, but the Owls were able to outlast the comeback to win 6-4 to clinch the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
Singles
The Owls added to their lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Komati on court two, but Parton was able to cut the deficit to one, 2-1, with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court six. With the win, Parton improved to 5-2 on court six this season.
It wasn’t enough as Giovani Pasini and Gonzalez fell in back-to-back matches on courts five and three, respectively, to allow the Owls to win 4-1.
