2017 SCHEDULE
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off of an impressive first year return to competition, UAB Bowling head coach Michelle Crews has announced her teams' 2017-18 competition schedule.
"I am very happy with the schedule for the upcoming season," Crews said. "We still have most of our usual events on the schedule while going to a few that we did not go to last year."
UAB opens the season on Oct. 22 through the 22 with a return trip to New Orleans to compete in the Allstate Sugarbowl Collegiate Championships hosted by Tulane.
From there the Blazers head to O'Fallon, Ill. for the McKendress Brunswick Bearcat Open from Oct. 27-29 before travelling to Houston, Texas for the Track Kat Klash set to run Nov. 3-5.
The Blazers finish the fall semester with a trip down I65 to compete in Alabama State's Hornet Classic, Nov. 17-19.
After a Holiday Break the Blazers are set to travel north to Reading, Pa. for the Kutztown Invitational.
UAB makes a return trip to Houston for the SFA Jacks Invitational set Feb. 16-18. The Blazers close out the regular season for the second consecutive year at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Symrna, Tenn.
"Overall, I believe it will be a very competitive schedule putting us in the best possible position to win and have a solid RPI to increase our overall ranking this season," Crews said.
UAB finished 20th in the country in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association after going 55-43 last season. The Blazer rolled upsets over national powerhouses in a number of events.
The Blazers return all but one bowler from last year while adding five more to this years' squad.
