SMYRNA, Tenn. – The No. 14 UAB bowling team went 1-2 on Sunday at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic to close the regular season with an 18th place finish.
"After such a struggle on Saturday, the team really back very hard on Sunday," head coach Michelle Crews said. "Their chemistry and communication was more like it was last weekend. It was disappointing compared to last weekend, but we continue to learn every time we are together."
Jackson State took UAB down to the last frame in the first game, but the Blazers used a three-pin advantage in the final frame to take the match 4-3.
The win pitted UAB against Stephen F. Austin, where the Blazers jumped out to a 2-1 early lead, but lost the game 4-3 and set up a rematch with Jackson State.
In the rematch, the Tigers defeated the Blazers 4-2 leaving UAB with an18th place finish.
UAB takes some time off from the lanes before returning to the hardwood April 19-21 at the United States Bowling Congress National Championship in Lincoln, Neb.
"We are looking forward to a small break next week, and then we shift focus back to preparing for our first national championship," Crews said.
