BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off of the most successful regular seasons in program history, No. 16 UAB bowling head coach Michelle is putting her final touches on next year's squad with the addition of Katie Hurley.
Hurley hails from Peoria, Ariz., and is the sister of current Blazer Annie Hurley.
"I am so excited to announce our last player for this year's signing class," Crews said. "Katie has a strong and competitive bowling resume that will add to our already very deep squad. She also have a very dynamic personality that fits with the environment I try to create in the bowlers circle.
I am grateful for the relationship we have developed with the Hurley family over the last few years since I began recruiting Annie and that the recruiting process still pointed Katie towards UAB. We are happy to have a very powerful duo in Annie and Katie."
Katie comes to UAB with a distinguished resume including placing first at the 2018 Arizona Pepsi State Tournament finals in the U20 scratch girls division and a clean sweep of the 2017 Metro Phoenix USBC 2x2 Mixed Doubles Tournament taking first place in the scratch and handicap divisions.
Additionally, she was the Sunrise Mountain High School bowling club captain for two seasons, was a drum major in the band her junior and senior year, was a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council secretary and served as both the President and Vice President of the Aerospace Club.
Hurley intends to major in psychology upon arrival at UAB.
UAB concludes its 2017-18 season at the USBC ITC Championships set for April 19-21 in Lincoln Neb.
