Blazers Fall in Day Two of MEAC Championship

The UAB bowling team fell in day two of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference after suffering a pair of losses to Monmouth and Delaware State.
The Blazers entered the conference championship bracket as the No. 4-seed matched up with Monmouth at the No. 5-seed.
In Friday's action, the Green and Gold held a total pin-fall advantage over Monmouth (948-912); however, came up short in the best-of-seven format, falling to the Hawks four games to three.
With the loss, the Blazers dropped into the loser's bracket on Saturday where they matched up with Delaware State. In five games, the Hornets took the win with a final score of 955-909, ending the Blazers' tournament campaign.
Leading individually in day one was junior Sierra Lewis who posted a score of 192, along with sophomore Samantha Johnson and junior Rachel Strogin who each bowled twin scores of 188.
Day two's matchup was lead again by a trio of Blazers that each notched scores over 190, being Samantha Johnson (193), Rachel Strogin (191), and Taylor Russel (191).
UAB will return to the lanes April 17-20 as it competes in the USBC Nationals for the second consecutive season.
