UAB Men’s Tennis Overcomes North Alabama 6-1

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB men's tennis team bested North Alabama, 6-1, on Thursday afternoon at Lakeshore Tennis Center, its second win in a row.
UAB's (4-5, 0-2 C-USA) win over the Lions (1-8, 0-0 ASUN) marks its second consecutive win over a team from the ASUN Conference after the Blazers won against Bellarmine on Saturday.
UAB won on all three doubles courts to claim the doubles point. On court one, the Blazers picked up a 6-4 win as Roman Postolka/Michal Lusovsky topped Carlos Matarredona/Andreas Hansen. On court two, Daniel Janko/Vojtech Podzemny beat Guilherme Diniz/Tim Heslin, 6-2, while Giovani Pasini/Parker Bradbary bested Kyle Johnson/Jamie Bixby, 6-3.
Up 1-0 going into singles play, UAB won on courts two (Lusovsky def. Johnson, 6-2, 6-1), six (Bradbary def. Heslin, 6-4, 6-2) and one (Postolka def. Matarredona, 6-1, 7-5) to clinch the match.
Podzemny claimed a win on court four as he defeated Hansen, 6-2, 7-6 before Thanos Spyropolous bested Guilherme Diniz on court three, 2-6, 7-6, 1-0.
The Lions earned their lone point on court five as Bixby overcame Pasini, 6-4, 7-6.
UAB returns to the courts on Saturday as the Blazers play host to Lipscomb with first serve from the UAB Campus Courts scheduled for 1 p.m.
