Blazers Place Third at Railsplitter Classic

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The UAB bowling team placed third in its first tournament of the 2022 spring season at the Railsplitter Classic, hosted by Lincoln Memorial. Senior Elise London received All-Tournament Team honors following a second-place overall finish.
The Blazers opened with baker games on Friday. UAB opened up with a win in the first match of the day in a 889-856 victory over Tusculum. Following back-to-back losses to Mercyhurst (905-797) and No. 22 Lincoln Memorial (1,022-922), the Green and Gold bounced back with an 888-751 win over Belmont Abbey to round out day one.
Saturday saw four traditional matches. The Blazers fell in the first match of the day to Mercyhurst (903-803). UAB recorded back-to-back wins over Tusculum (966-828) and Belmont Abbey (924-773). Closing out the day, the Green and Gold had a close contest with Lincoln Memorial that ended up in a tie at 1,018. LMU won the tie breaker 115-97.
On Sunday, the Blazers concluded the tournament with wins over No. 22 Lincoln Memorial (945-874) and Belmont Abbey (924-773) in a baker format.
Individually, London led the way with a second-place finish with a total pinfall of 1,053, averaging 210.6 over the five games. Jamie Krasnigor (990 total pinfall, 198.0 average) and Katie Hurley (969 total pinfall, 193.8 average) recorded sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively.
Rounding out the scoring for the Blazers were Shauna Rodgers (835 total pinfall, 167.0 average, 15th overall) and Jillian Hulsey (807 total pinfall, 161.4 average, 18th overall) both placed in the top 20.
Overall, the Blazers are 21-24 on the season and 5-3 in MEAC play. Up next, UAB travels to MEAC #2 in Norfolk, Va. on Feb. 19 and 20.
