UAB Bowling Finish 5th at MEAC Championships

Chesapeake, Virginia - The UAB bowling team placed fifth at the MEAC Bowling Championships in Chesapeake, Virginia.
The Blazers entered as the six seed and opened play against No. 3 Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday morning. UAB was quickly knocked down to the losers bracket dropping the traditional (932-1,013) and the baker (861-1,046) games. UAB got very strong scores from Katie Hurley (242) and Jamie Krasnigor (214) in the traditional game.
The green and gold returned to the lanes on Friday afternoon for an elimination game vs No. 8 Norfolk State. UAB took the traditional game (870-805) behind scores of 189 from Jillian Hulsey and 181 from Hurley. Norfolk State gave UAB everything they had in the baker games, but the Blazers prevailed in an 875-873 thriller to stay in the tournament.
UAB came back on Saturday morning for their second elimination game, this time vs Monmouth. UAB took the traditional game 923-904 behind scores of 218 from Shauna Rodgers and 205 from Krasnigor. Monmouth bounced back to take the baker games 988-956, forcing a baker best-of-seven. Both teams split the first two games before Monmouth took control and won the next three games to win the round 4-1 and take the overall match 2-1.
