UAB Places 25th at North Alabama Showcase

HUNTSVILLE – The UAB Cross Country team finished the North Alabama Showcase in John Hunt Park on Friday Morning in Huntsville, closing out the race 25th overall.
"This meet provides some of the best competition in the nation; it gives a preview of what the Regional Championship will look like and where we need to improve," said Head Coach Maryn Lowry. "Our second pack moved closer to our top three and now we work on moving the whole group up in the race. The Loyola Lakefront Invitational will provide some great teams from the Midwest region to compete with; teams we do not usually race against. It will give us the opportunity to improve on competing closer to the front of the race."
The Blazers, who completed their previous race two weeks prior, had similar results at the finish line. Freshman Kyra Hayes finished first for the Green and Gold, with a time of 18:23.10. Lauren Robinson followed behind with a time of 18:45.30 for the Blazers.
Kathleen Schellman followed up with a time of 19:07.92, along with Sangie Lincoln-Velez finishing at 19:26.46, Britney Johnson, Anna Behmer and Ava Brooks rounded out the remainder of the squad at the finish line within three seconds of each other with times of 19:30.52, 19:33.15 and 19:33.88.
