UAB WBB Falls at Middle Tennessee 63-42

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The UAB women's basketball team dropped a 63-42 decision at Middle Tennessee on Saturday afternoon.
Destinee McGhee led UAB (11-13, 3-12 C-USA) with 15 points and six rebounds.
Savannah Wheeler paced Middle Tennessee (20-4, 13-2 C-USA) with 20 points and nine rebounds.
The first half was tight with four ties and six lead changes. A 3-pointer by McGhee at 8:20 of the 2nd quarter made the score 18-16 in favor of the Blazers, but that would be their final field goal as Middle countered with a 9-0 run to go ahead 25-18. The teams would exchange a pair of free throws as the game headed into halftime with the Blue Raiders leading 27-20.
Middle opened up the 3rd quarter on a 10-2 run, putting them ahead 37-22 with 7:14 to play. McGhee scored all seven points for UAB as they stared at a 48-27 deficit heading into the 4th quarter.
The Blue Raiders' lead would get as high as 27-points with 3:21 left in the game.
The Blazers return home next week for a pair of game against UTEP on Feb. 16 and UTSA on Feb. 18.
