Men's Tennis Goes 2-1 on the Weekend

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's tennis (2-2) wrapped up its first home weekend with a pair of wins over Alcorn State and Alabama State while dropping one match to South Alabama at the Hoover Met Tennis Complex.
SOUTH ALABAMA
The Blazers faced off with South Alabama in the first match of the weekend. The Blazers secured the doubles point with wins from the Lusovsky/Nouchakis pairing and the Bradbary/Postolka pairing.
Noah Malige took care of business on Court 6, taking down Accossatto in straight sets (7-6, 6-2), to give the Blazers a 2-0 advantage. The Jaguars were able to even it up at 2-2 with wins on Court 1 and Court 3.
Michal Lusovsky put the Blazers one point away from clinching the match with a three-set win over Clements on Court 2 (6-3, 1-6, 7-6). However, the Blazers were unable to put the match away falling in a deciding third set on Court 5 and Court 4.
ALCORN STATE
In the second match of the day, the Blazers were able to again secure the doubles point with wins from the pairing of Thanos Spyropoulos and Nikola Puric as well as the pairing of Iker Dellien and Martin Vasquez.
In singles, Chase Parker was able to win on a walkover to make it 2-0 for UAB. Thanos Spyropoulos was dominant on Court 1 (6-0, 6-0), putting the score at 3-0. Nikola Puric followed suit, taking down his opponent on Court 4 in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) to secure the match for the Blazers.
Each of the other three matches went to a deciding tiebreaker in the third set. Martin Vasquez was able to pick up his first win of the season on Court 5 (6-0, 4-6, 10-2) as the Blazers took the match, 5-2.
ALABAMA STATE
On Sunday, the Blazers wrapped up the weekend with a dominant performance. UAB secured the doubles point with 7-5 wins by Lusovsky/Nouchakis and Malige/Puric.
In singles competition, the Blazers won all six matches in straight sets. Georgios Nouchakis dominated his opponent on Court 5 (6-0, 6-1) to put the Blazers ahead 2-0. Vojtech Podzemny was able to secure a third point for UAB with a convincing win (6-3, 6-1) on Court 3.
Michal Lusovsky clinched the match for the Blazers on Court 1 (6-1, 6-4) and Roman Postolka made it 5-0 with a win on Court 2 (6-2, 6-3). Noah Malige (7-5, 6-3) and Thanos Spyropoulos (6-2, 6-3) closed out the match to complete the 7-0 sweep.
