MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UAB women's tennis team defeated No. 58 Wichita State 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The last time the Blazers earned a ranked win was in 2014 with a 4-3 victory against No. 67 Northwestern State. The win over the Shockers is the 12th-ranked victory UAB has in earned in program history.
Wichita State started the afternoon taking the doubles point on Courts 2 and 3. The Blazers fought back in singles by taking four singles matches to take the victory.
Adela Wasserbauerova defeated Natsumi Kurahashi 6-4, 6-3 on Court 1. Klara Kajabova took her match in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 over Xin Tong Wang. Sydney Clarke dominated her opponent 6-2, 6-4, as well as Vanessa Mellynchuk with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
The Blazers close out the regular season at Louisiana Tech on Saturday, April 6 at noon.
