Blazers Add Six On Signing Day

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Softball Head Coach Taylor Smartt announced six signees from the 2026 class on National Signing Day, Wednesday. Smartt's class includes two right-handed pitchers, two outfielders, an infielder, and a catcher/utility player. Two of the class of 2026 recruits are staying in their home state of Alabama, while the other four move to the Magic City from elsewhere in the Southeastern U.S.
Carleigh Gothart | RHP | R/R
Gothart is a 5'5" right-handed pitcher from Huntsville, Alabama. Gothart plays club ball for Alabama Sparks Elite and preps at Westminster Christian Academy.
Lainey Hall | INF | L/R
Hall, a native of Ravenel, S.C., is a middle infielder playing for West Ashley High School in Charleston. Hall plays for Lady Lightning Gold for club ball.
Tatum Kreinus | OF | L/R
Kreinus plays high school ball for South Walton HS in her hometown, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. She plays club softball for Stars National.
Cat Schreiber | RHP | R/R
Schreiber is a Huntsville, Ala., native playing prep softball at Madison Academy. Schreiber also plays club softball for Lady Lightning Gold.
Samantha Coe | C/UTL | L/R
Coe joins the Blazers from Kennesaw, Ga., playing her high school ball at Harrison High School. Coe plays club softball for the East Cobb Bullets.
Morgan Hughes | OF | L/L
A lefty-lefty outfielder from Ashland, Va., Hughes plays high school softball for Patrick Henry. Hughes plays club softball for the Birmingham Thunderbolts.
