Women’s Basketball Adds Three on Signing Day

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball head coach Randy Norton signed three players on National Signing Day. The Blazers added two high school prospects in Bella Harmon and Nya Burns while also adding JUCO forward Hailey Jackson.
"This 2026 class represents everything we value in our program by pursuing excellence in the classroom, on the court and in our personal lives," Norton said. "Bella, Nya, and Hailey are proven winners in every sense of the word. They're high character young women who are driven in the classroom, passionate about their teammates, and fearless competitors on the floor. We're thrilled to welcome them into the Blazer family."
Bella Harmon | 6-1 | Wing | Lakewood, Calif. | Saint Joseph HS
Harmon has been selected to play in the Inaugural Mamba League Invitational in honor of Kobe Bryant three years in a row. She was 1-of-40 California high school girls selected for the Mamba League Invitational her first two seasons and 1-of-20 her junior year. Harmon attended Buena Park her freshman and sophomore season before attending Saint Joseph High School.
During her junior season, Harmon ranked 4th in California in assists (8.0 per game), 10th in rebounds (16.1 per game) and 20th in double doubles per game. She also reached 1,000 career points while recording a quadruple double (20 points, 15 rebounds, 15 assists and 10 steals) in the same day. Harmon earned Camino Real League MVP, All-State Cal High Sports, Team MVP, First Team Long Beach Press Telegram, was the team captain and led her high school to an all-league title.
The Lakewood, Calif., native ranked 25th in California in assists (5.3 per game) while also recording 11.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game her sophomore year. For Harmon's efforts on the hardwood, she earned First Team All-CIF Division 2AA, First Team All-County (Orange County, Calif.), All-State Cal High Sports, Freeway League MVP and Team MVP. While being the team captain, she helped lead her school to a second appearance in the CIF Southern Section State finals and to a first ever league championship.
Harmon's freshman season she ranked 56th in California for double doubles, recorded 13.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game. She was the team captain while collecting First Team All-CIF Division 4AA, First Team All-Freeway League, Team MVP and was a part of her high school's first appearance in the CIF Southern Section State finals.

She's got elite court vision, a competitive edge, and a toughness you can't teach. What stands out most is her leadership and the way she raises the standard every time she steps on the floor. Nya Burns | 5-7 | Guard | Knoxville, Tenn. | Grace Christian Academy
Burns has recorded 1,850 points, 602 rebounds, 466 assists and 344 steals throughout her high school career so far. For her efforts on the court, she was named BCAT Player of the Week, 5 Star Preps Player of the Week, Knox Player of the Week, TSWA All-State and earned Game MVP during her junior season.
During her sophomore year she was named First Team All-District, BCAT All-State, Region All-Tournament Team and District All-Tournament Team. Her freshman season she was named District Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-District, District All-Tournament Team and Region Tournament MVP. In eight grade she collected a First Team All-District and Game MVP.
Randy on Nya Burns: "Nya is a dynamic floor general point guard, who can score, facilitate and defend at a very high level. She's a proven leader and as fierce of a competitor as I have ever seen and she has been winning and producing since middle school. Her work ethic, tenacity, high character, and academic excellence make her a perfect representation of what it means to be a UAB student-athlete. She brings energy, consistency, and a winner's mentality every single day."
Hailey Jackson | 5-11 | Forward | Tulsa, Okla. | Charles Page HS | Hutchinson CC
Jackson is a JUCO forward that has shown athleticism and skill at Hutchinson Community College. In her sophomore season, she averaged 18.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while starting and playing in 34 games.
As a freshman with the Blue Dragons, Jackson tallied 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. She appeared and started in 37 games. She helped her team win the 2024 NJCAA National Championship with an 88-80 victory over Northwest Florida State. With her help, Hutchinson Community College went 37-0 overall and 24-0 in conference play.
For her career she has averaged 15.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
Randy on Hailey Jackson: "Hailey is a versatile forward who plays with great energy and physicality. She's a difference-maker on both ends of the floor, runs the floor hard, rebounds with purpose, and finishes through contact. She is a three-level scorer. She has the heart of a competitor and the drive to keep improving every day. Hailey embodies our mission for our women's basketball program."
