Three Blazers Selected in MLB Draft, Most for School Since 2015

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Baseball recorded a historic day in the Major League Baseball Draft. Logan Braunschweig and Colin Daniel were each selected by the Atlanta Braves while Nick Hollifield was taken by the Washington Nationals. The three Blazers selected are the most in a single draft since 2015 when Alex Luna (10th round), James Naile (20th round), and Adam Lau (37th round) were selected.
Logan Braunschweig was taken in the 9th round by the Atlanta Braves. The senior outfielder from Alabaster, Alabama was a two-time All-AAC selection and finished his career with a .309 batting average across 196 games. His 72 career stolen bases ranks 7th most all-time in school history. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove finalist also finished his Blazer career ranked third in walks (129) and seventh in runs scored (146). Braunschweig also fielded at a .977 clip with 20 career outfield assists.
Colin Daniel was also taken by the Atlanta Braves as he was selected in the 11th round. The junior right-handed pitcher from Corner, Alabama was also a two-time All-AAC selection in his three seasons with the Blazers. The 2025 AAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year had career-bests in strikeouts (80), walks allowed (15), K/BB ratio (5.33), opponents' batting average (.235), and two complete games. He also finished second in the American Conference in complete games (2), third in Innings Pitched (91.1), third in walks allowed, fourth in ERA (3.15), eighth in strikeouts, and 10th in opponents' batting average. He was also named American Conference Pitcher of the Week four times in 2025.
Junior catcher Nick Hollifield was selected in the 14th round by the Washington Nationals. The Hoschton, Georgia native had career-bests in batting average (.266), hits (50), walks (33), runs scored (31), RBI (30), slugging percentage (.415), and home runs (5). The Buster Posey Midseason Watch List honoree played in 52 games, making 51 starts, all at catcher, and tallied 16 multi-hit games, including two 3-hit games against Auburn (3/5) and Florida Atlantic (5/16). Hollifield also had a .995 fielding percentage on 371 putouts and 10 runners caught stealing.
The Green and Gold also had two signees selected in the draft. T.J. Ford of Fayetteville, Georgia was picked in the 14th round by the Los Angeles Angels. Alabama transfer signee Jonathan Stevens was selected in the 16th round by the Minnesota Twins.
All players selected in the draft will have until July 28 to sign their respective contracts.
