LOUISVILLE – The UAB men's tennis team opens up the fall season with a strong showing at the Louisville Invitational.
UAB kicked off its fall season with a strong showing at the Louisville Invitational, competing against Louisville, Tennessee, Belmont, Bellarmine, EKU, and Xavier. Six Blazers represented the team over three days of play.
Sophomore Conor Flynn and junior Juan Pablo Valdez highlighted the weekend by capturing the A-Draw doubles title.
In singles play, junior Ondrej Valek put together a strong run in the A-Draw, finishing with a 3–1 record. In the B Draw, Tomas Tischner and Axel Frechet also went 3–1. Frechet celebrated his first collegiate win, while Tischner picked up his first win as a Blazer.
Redshirt sophomore Jake Anthony added to the team's success by earning his first singles victory of the season.
The Blazers now look ahead to building on this momentum as they continue their fall campaign at the Samford Invitational on Sept. 26-28.
