SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The UAB women's soccer team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon as the Blazers fell 2-1 to UTSA at Park West Athletics Complex.

UAB (7-6-1, 4-2 American) controlled much of the possession and outshot UTSA (6-3-4, 2-2-1 American) 14-8, including an 11-4 advantage in the second half, but was unable to overcome a two-goal halftime deficit.

The Roadrunners opened the scoring in the 28th minute on a goal by Sofia Peters before Caroline Pelkofski doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute to give UTSA a 2-0 lead at the break.

The Blazers responded early in the second half as Lauren Lucero converted a penalty kick in the 52nd minute for her second goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

UAB continued to apply pressure throughout the final 45 minutes, registering five shots on goal in the second half, but UTSA goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler finished with six saves to preserve the victory.

Lucero led the Blazers with three shots on goal, while Mia Leath added three shots. UAB held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Blazers return home Thursday, Oct. 22, to host Tulsa in American Conference action.
