Blazers Split Day Two at Mardi Gras Classic

MOBILE, Ala. - Blazer Softball had a day of high-highs and low-lows, falling to Jacksonville State in five innings 9-1, but defeating Western Michigan 4-3 to secure a win against each team at the Mardi Gras Classic. Charlee Bennett was a star again for the Blazers with a 3-for-3 game against Western Michigan, doubling twice.
Jacksonville State's offense ate up Caroline McLendon and Tait Davidson with big innings in the second and fifth to run-rule the Blazers.
Bennett and Hannah Dorsett led the UAB offense, paired with another strong Olivia Cummings start and capped with a Caitlin Russell save. The Blazers fended off a late Western Michigan comeback attempt to split the day and improve to 3-1 on the weekend.
