TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - UAB Softball lost its midweek matchup at #7/#5 Alabama, 8-0, as the Crimson Tide walked off the Blazers in the fifth inning with a two-run double. The Alabama offense overpowered the Blazers, notching a hit in all five innings and scoring in each of the final four innings.
Alabama did most of its damage with two outs, including a pair of two-run doubles: one in the second inning and the other to win the game in the fifth. The Crimson Tide's RBI single in the fourth inning also came with two outs.
Salen Hawkins hit a towering home run to left field in the third inning to put the Crimson Tide up, 5-0.
The UAB offense was not entirely quiet, tallying four hits in three different innings. Carlie Wilkins gave the Blazers their first sign of life with a single up the middle in the second inning. Hannah Dorsett also hit a one-out single up the middle in the fourth inning. However, the Blazers could not convert on either opportunity.
After a three-up-three-down fourth, the Blazers got a two-out rally going with back-to-back hits by Hope Tucker and Hannah Miles. A foul out ended the inning right after.
Tait Davidson got the start and loss for UAB. Davidson pitched all 4.2 innings for the Blazers, giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits.
